Glencoe

Finished rooms for Glencoe homes, from one accountable team.

Glencoe's ravine-side homes and period houses deserve a remodel planned as carefully as they were built. Ascendesign brings design and build together — with crews we've already vetted.

Building here

Housing stock: Glencoe is a North Shore village on Lake Michigan, home to the Chicago Botanic Garden and to Frank Lloyd Wright's Ravine Bluffs development. Its neighborhoods mix early-20th-century homes with mid-century and newer houses. [CONFIRM neighborhood details]

Typical projects: Kitchen and bath remodels, whole-home renovations, basement finishing, integrated technology. [PLACEHOLDER — confirm]

Permitting: Permits here are issued by the Village of Glencoe Development Services Department; since January 2025 the Village has contracted with SAFEbuilt for plan review and inspections. Contractor licenses and insurance must be uploaded to the Village's self-service portal before a permit is issued — a new license copy for each permit — and electrical work must be done by an electrician registered in the Chicago metro area (or per Glencoe's authorized exceptions). We handle permit applications and inspection scheduling as part of the project. [CONFIRM current requirements with the department before each job]

Questions we hear

What does Glencoe need from contractors before a permit?

Glencoe requires each contractor's license and insurance documents to be uploaded for every permit before it's issued, and any contractor change needs a Change of Contractor form. We manage that paperwork for every trade.

Who pulls the permits?

We pull the required permits for work we contract and coordinate inspections.

How do you choose the crews who work on my home?

We vet every contractor. Some jobs take 60–80 bids because many don't call back, don't show up, aren't insured, or are booked months out. We screen for insurance before anyone is put on your project.
